Audio advice....
Alright we ALL know I was going with the JL Audio 250/1 for my sub.
Recently a pal of mine got it installed in a QX4 and it was too much boom for my taste.
Any other suggestions?
I'm looking for moderate bass, I listen to Rock and punk if it helps any.

i doubt that the amp is making his sub boomy. what sub is he running with the JL 250/1? also, what type of enclosure is the sub mounted in? how big is the enclosure? how is the gain setting on his amp? how is the bass setting on his EQ( if he has one) or head unit? there are a lot of factors that can cause boomy bass and i really doubt it's because of the amp.

Well one friend has two 15" which is just ridiculous so I didn't judge it.
The other has two 10" JL 0's I believe.
Both are run by the 250/1 and in ported boxes.

I'm going to have to agree with the previous posts - the 250/1 is a very moderate amp. I listen to rock, so clarity and precision are my main concerns. I got my g/f a 250/1 and a 12W3 (i think) for christmas last year. Very powerful bass response, but not a good setup for rock (also running with stock Camry speakers mind you). If I were to do it (which I might, depending upon what I can find from Eclipse to run my mains) is a 250/1 running to a JL 10", probably a W6. Very, VERY precise sound. Also, if you're running a stock head unit you will want to install a variable crossover, I reccomend one from AudioControl (website: AudioControl Car Audio ). I only really reccomend them because I've sold them & installed them, not familiar with other product lines.
With a line converter hooked up to a variable x-over, you should have an outstanding sound, as well as a great deal of flexibility for changing the sound dynamics (a good idea if you are ever thinking about moderate show competition).
Good luck, and enjoy the amp!
