Default Remote K40 v. Escort SR7

O.k. guys, I'm looking 50% platinum tint, so a remote is neccessary. Please give your opinion as to which you would go for and why?

Thanks!

I did quite a bit of research on remote radar detectors and summarized everything I had found here: Remote radar detectors thread

I have never seen one test where the K40 beat the BEL 875LR, and the K40 costs about three times as much as the BEL. As far as the Escort SR7 (which replaced the SR1 due to FCC problems), I have never been able to find a single review on it, so the only thing to go on is the name. Even then, the BEL usually held it's own against the Escort (albeit the SR1) and even beat it on several occasions. The only drawback of the BEL that I could find was that the rear laser pickup mounts on the inside of the rear window (as low as possible), but my car is being tinted also and am having a 1 inch by 1 inch "window" made (along with another small circle for the rear view camera).

In any event, to answer your question I would definitely go with the Escort SR7 over the K40, basing the decision on the results of the SR1 and assuming that the SR7 should be an improvement.

I purchased the SRX system after some research and reading reports on the K40. In my stidies I found that the K40 rated much lower than many other detectors on the market both remote and window mounts.

I installed the SRX myself. It was a bit of a project but I really like have the remote and not needing to worry as much about theft of the system. The control unit is in my NAV compartment and can be closed when needed.
