Wiring Audio/Video/Power for Dummies Source?
Hey all,
I'm planning on doing the Farenheit screen and dvd player install, and I would like to know if there is some source where I could learn about properly connecting wires and whatnot..
I got some stripping/crimping tools from a hardware store nearby, but i'm still a little shaky and definatelly dont want to mess parts up..
So is there a good site/board where i could learn this stuff?
Thanks

Dang you're a brave person, I wouldn't want to experiment on my $35,000 Z for my first wiring attempt
There's not much too difficult that any high school electronics lab couldn't teach you in less than an hour. Inside of cars you really want to do the connections correctly as the vibrations cause things to loosen and the heat causes tape to unwrap. The best way to go is with solder and heat shrink. Soldering takes a bit of practice to get neat, heat shrink is pretty simple and just a matter of getting the right diameter and heating it correctly.
How to solder
Crimping terminal lugs is a bit more difficult that some make it out to be. The lugs are color coded for wire size as it the terminal crimping tool (normally). If you don't match wire to color and color to crimp you're going to have too tight or too loose of a crimp which will be weaker than a proper one.

thanks for the quick responce paul,
i've read so many of your posts and other guys that i almost feel that on the install you guys are going to be right there to help me out.. so thats where all the bravery is comming from a guess.. heh
in any case.. i have no probs taking apart the dash.. locating the correct wires and all.. it's mainly connecting those wires that i've never done..
i guess being a newbie to me it seems like crimping is the easier way..
another thing i know nothing about is fuses.. i've read some posts and i'll probably go stop by walmart to get some fuse holders and whatnot...
we'll see.. i'm going to take her apart tonight and start seeing if i can figure out whats what..
if it gets too confusing i'll probably take her to some shop where they'll do it in like 10 min..
but hell.. i really want to be able to do this stuff myself.
