Yes, they are legal in California, so no need to hide it.

I have a Whistler in my Stealth, but some minor features (like volume) broke over time. I just got the Escort Solo2 cordless for my Z due to lack of power plug in the dash for the 2003 model. Radar detectors are your friend.

The whole point of radar det. is not to drive around 100 mph thinking your safe, for those of us who get on it a little, once and a while. It gives me advanced warning when it's not the right time, or when I need to ease off a bit. Many times at night I've had it go off on the hwy, I know to stay in line when all I see are headlights, then a trooper passes on my left, makes me glad I had warning! You still have to use common sense, and pay attention to what you are doing.

This topic has been on more than anything I can think of with everyone having an opinion so here is mine again. I have both the Valentine1 and Escort’s 8500X50 that is connected to an Escort VR3 laser shifter. If you are on a road by yourself you have a good chance of a state trooper waiting to trigger his radar so nothing will work. The Valentine’s arrows are a plus and the Escort 8500X50 is a good radar detector to me so it is a personal preference.
