Default Wiring question

I recently installed an AVIC-N2 and the GEX-whatever XM tuner. I did it myself, thanks to all the great information from the forums and from users like Paul!
Two related install questions:

1. How many components can I safely run off the +12v constant that's going to the HU? Right now I've got both the HU and the GEX-whatever (XM) running off that same power line (which I assume is from the driver side fuse box.) I intend to install the Ipod adapter, which also requires +12v unswitched. Am I looking for trouble if I tap another lead into the same line?

2. If the answer to the previous question is "yes, you're looking for trouble", then what's the recommended way to wire this? I currently have a single amplifier attached (fused, of course) to the battery w/ 4 gauge wire; I'm considering adding a second amp (and therefore a 4 gauge -> 8 gauge x2 distribution block). Can I somehow tap into the distro block to power the ipod adapter? The ipod adapter's got an 18 gauge power lead; what's the recommended way to tap the 18 gauge lead into the 4 or 8 gauge line?

Thanks for helping me not blow any fuses or light anything on fire =)

you should be fine with just those two units running off the constant 12volt line. ipod adapater should also be fine. the two peripheral units dont draw nearly enough curren to pop a fuse.

but if you want to be sure, you can always go into the main vehcile power wire in the ignition harness below the dash

but i wouldnt worry abou tit too much if i were you if you are keep to those three.

if for some reason it pops and its not a short, u can though in a fuse for 5 more. if it pops again, then u probly have a short and need to find and fix this possible fire hazard.

Thanks for the reply. Not having to tap into the amp power is going to be a lot easier!

Agreed. The iPod adapter draws very little power.
