Default Relocating remote sensor on Farenheit LCD.

I don't want to drill a hole for the Nav. area for the remote sensor.
Remember someone posting something about relocating the remote sensor somewhere else. What would you have to do to relocate the remote sensor?

I know there's a lot of EEs in here. Just brain storming but would a small fiber optic cable work? Has anyone tried this. Does any one know how big a cable and how long it can be?

someone just rerouted it to their headunit which accept remote. I don't have one, but I would imagine that just desolding the ir diode and moving it somewhere, like that little slot in front or the bottom of the Nav door w/ the wires taped to the inside of the door

The remote sensor consist of a diode the size of small pea with the ends soldiered to te circuit board.

There is a glass-like tube about an inch long that brings the infrared beam from the face to the diode on the circuit board. No wires.

yeah, like I guessed. Just desolder the diode, solder some wire to it and move the diode whereever you want. try telephone wire, or stero wire. I guess you only need about a foot or so to move it somewhere on the dash.
