~ Information on Custom MDF Subwoofer box in Factory Location! ~
yeah I am looking to put my amps in this location and would love to have the measurements and angles for the front of the box. Will check the cad drawing on Monday when I am back on a pc just in case they are in that, if not, please post!!!!

I can tell you from experince no matter what you do behind the seat it will not sound right. It will need to be in the hatch area or in the trunk if you get to convertible.

With the top down there would be a lot of roof and glass between me and the sub.
I am not looking for high SPL or to win any shows or even to have a "super killer system". I am mostly interested in boosting the bass since I know the little 6" speakers aren't going to cut it bass-wise.
On the other hand, I would HATE the sub if it was too boomy or rattled or anything. I don't need super premium, but I would take "no sub" over a boomy or heavily distorted sub.
I was sort of hoping that I could hang a good quality open air sub in there, add a little dynamat, and be done with an "ok" subwoofer. Is this fantasy or possible?

Well, I guess I won't rule out the trunk yet, but it seemed to me that the trunk would be a poor place for a sub in the convertible since it is (mostly) a seperate air space from the passenger compartment. But I am no expert on subs so I know I could be wrong.

The way I had my CL was I dynamated the trunk and had a MTX thunder 12 with a 300w amp. Sounded perfect. Trunk space is ideal for me. In the Z I ordered the small custom enclosure Paul is making that will sit in the corner of the hatch. Here is the info...

I built a box behind the seat and no matter what I did I could not get use to the way it felt on my back or the way it sounded. Just could be that I was so use to hearing bass come from the trunk though.
Right now I have a small 10" box sitting in the hatch area till the enclosure is finished and it sounds soooo much better. I need as much trunk space as possible thats why I decided to go with Pauls design.

seattleinfo - have you completed you box? I would be very interested to know anyone who made a upword firing box for the stock location with internal volum of 0.75cf... I have one made with the ext size of 18X14X6 which gives me about 0.6 internal vol... I need more... but do not see a way to have a larger box there... I would be very interested ot see what you have done..
Thanks,
Thanks,
I am getting an RF Power 10 installed in a few weeks and was wondering if it would fit in the stock 10" location. The installer is making the box from fiberglass. Or should I go the route of building a box and firing it towards the rear?
The RF Power 10 is a mammoth (56 lbs I believe, but only requires .60-.75 cubic feet)
Suggestions?

zandmax - I am fairly in experience but simply looking at your impressive system, anda desire to have a GREAT sound, my only recommendation to you would be, don't put the sub in the stock location... It would be nearly impossible to make an internal vol of 0.75 using 3/4 MDF, the sound improvement having the box in and out is very dramatic. I keep it in since I like to have clean install, I am still looking for other options. just my 2 cents

Yep, I agree. So much wasted space in there that could be used.
