OK I've got all my parts in for my audio system except the HU. I can't figure out which one to get.

I really want the nakamichi cd-700ii but everyone's saying it's got bad build quality. I even talked to a sales rep at woofersetc.com who said it's a great sounding HU but wouldn't recommend it because of problems.

I think a lot of what's holding me back is the look. Pioneer p9 (I think it is) stats loo pretty good but the HU looks kinda cheap. Alpines I never really liked... but they look cheap too. Clarion sounds awesome but I'm not sure would look too good in a Z.

I've actually found a few Denon's out there that look good but they're foreign to me. I have no idea what they sound like. Does anyone have any intel on any of these?

If I'm leaving something out let me know. I just need the HU and I can install everything.

By the way I'm running:

2 sets Dynaudio 240GTs (one in front and one in the rear)
2 8w7s
500/1
450/4

I think it should be a really rich deep sound. Smooth bass and mids without a harsh tweeter like you might hear on a MB Quart or something. I'm going for SQ so gains will be low on the subs.

Anyway, suggestions needed.

Go with a Pioneer or Alpine H/U. We just got the 06 models in and they look pretty sweet

 

um... no those suck in my opinion. But to each his own. I'm talking to some guys in Japan right now. Hopefully they can secure me a Denon DCT-100 (in black). That'll do the trick.

 

Denon is good... I'm glad to see you are going with the Dynaudio's, you will not be disaapointed.

I'm in the same boat right now, and decided to go with an Eclipse CD 8445 off Ebay for aeound 300.00. I was headed towards an A/V deck, but decided HP needs more immediate help, so the high-end "standard" deck from Eclipse is the best option.

You may want to check out their website and review the options, they just released a new model line (I think).

Anyway, Denon is great if you can get a respectable price.

Make sure you get that with the US Radio Frequency Range, If it is a Euro or Asian Model you probably wont be able to pick up US radio stations.

This awesome HU has 8 channel outs! Which allows the tweaters/fronts to leverage its internal active crossover, and throw away the noisy component door dongle! Four front speakers matched with a great 4-channel amp sourced by this HU must produce one of the best sound reproductions available. Very nice!

 

yeah I'm going to have to get a range expander... whatever those things are techiincally called. To expand the range to US freqs. I think it'll do 92-108hz. Which means no NPR anymore but I think I can live with that.

Yeah that clarion looks nice. I'm temped... but I'm going to see if I can get the denon first.
