Default Free Air sub recommendations? Search is down.

I broke down and got an aftermarket HU and want to add a sub in the stock location while I've got everything apart. I'm not an audiophile so I don't care if it rattles the fillings out. I just want to add some bass. I listen to some rock and world stuff so I don't need too much thump. I'd like to stay in the budget range and I don't want a box. I have an amp from my cobbled together BOSE conversion so I'm covered for power. I don't want basslink because of price and the fact that I already have an amp. I just need a free air speaker recommendation. Anybody? Thanks in advance.

When I was thinking of going that route the places I went to recommended stuff by Eclipse. They said it sounded great but they couldn't demo it and it was priced around $200-250 or so.

I gave up eventually and ended up going with the strutbar box which, overall, was less expensive.

I'd suggest an Infinity basslink or kenwood woox setup .. ~40lbs and it'll do exactly what you want in a much simpler package.

Those Basslink's are optimally ported, easy install, and a price/performance champ. But listening to it was sobering and killed the deal.

They are PR'd and they really don't sound all that bad in the mid to upper bass region (they are eq'd not to go low).
Sorry to hear you thought is was so bad ... but realistically ... most anyone looking for some rock or rap music supplementation has been thoroughly satisfied with them. No, they are not audiophile grade ... but they sure do beat some of the cheaper stuff out there.
