Default Radar Position

I've seen many installs of radar detectors practically sitting on the dash. Do you guys have give radar pick up with it so low. I am personally thinking about putting near my rearview mirror up high, that's what I have always done. I have always thought that it would pick up signals there better. What are everyone's thoughts on the two different installs?

I have a Bel 980 radar detector hard mounted in my Maxima. Window tint doesn't affect my range at all, in fact its awesome! I used heavy duty velcro to mount it. Its hard mounted thru my dome light and you cannot see it from the outside.

Mounting it in the center of your windshield is best but it is more prone to thieves...

Definitely better up on the windsheild as opposed to the dash. The higher up, the farther the detector can "see" thus better range.
