Decent amp and subs
I know that for HU's pioneer or alpine are the best but for an amp whats a good one that isn't to expensive. Also whats a decent sub that will either fit in where the bose one would. The amp I'd want to be able to fit under the passenger seat. Now with a decent amp and sub would I need to replace the door speakers or would the HU, amp and sub compensate. I have an 06 enth if that makes a difference. Also is there a way to but the HU where the Nav would be so I could just close it for security instead of having to diconnect the face every time?
I'm definately a novice with systems mainly because this is the first car I could afford to put one in.
Thanks

Have a look at www.woofersetc.com for some pricing ideas on your system.
The problem with putting a 10" woofer into the stock Bose location is that the area is not sealed and is a pretty big volume. Most car sub-woofers are designed to be in a sealed box of a pretty small size. The sealed box acts as a spring to load up and control the woofer's movement improving the sound.
The area behind the dash board cubby is very shallow - an inch or so and you're going to pay huge to get someone to drop a 8-9" deep head end into a hole that they'll have to blow through your dash board.
There is plenty of room to mount an amplifier of a small to medium size into the area behind the Bose stock subwoofer mounting area. You can fit a small sized amplifier under the seat.
The Bose speakers suck. They're driven by two VERY small amplifiers which also suck. I would highly recommend removing the Bose amplifier and all the speakers if you change the head end or enjoy listening to music.

I never get tired of posting those pictures! The top one shows a $250 Infinity amplifier against the one from the $1200 Bose system. The bottom picture shows an Infinity subwoofer against the Bose one - that large piece of metal isn't the missing magnet structure of the Bose it's an adjustment piece for the Infinity.

For the head end you can go with one with a detachable face plate or one that closes up automatically hiding the display. I went with both - my Pioneer AVIC N2 has a pop out screen that can either stay in or come out when I need the 6.5" screen for the GPS navigation or DVD player. The bottom half of that head end also pops off but I've never removed it once I was done with the installation. The system is very low keyed and stock looking - even my two subwoofers are difficult to see unless you're right on top of the rear window looking down. The 6-disc CD player in is the rear map pockets. The amplifiers are inside the stock subwoofer area.
What is that behind the drivers seat. Can I mount a sub there? Not sure whats in there but it looks like the lock box behind the passengers but its closed.
So it'd be possible to mount a cd HU where the navi usually goes?
How did you put a CD changer in the map holder. You are talking about those two little boxes in between the seats right?
Also with an apm how many channel and types of specs should I be looking for if I want just a decent cheap system. I have no clue what most of those things mean on that site.
Also what are some good speakers/tweeters or whatever they are.
Lol sorry for all the newb questions but I wanted to get a really good Idea of what I needed, where I could put it and how much it should cost before I go looking to buy and get it installed. I'm so lost when it comes to this sh*t
