Default DDX8017, Ipod, and controller cable

Hi guys , first post here. I did a search but couldnt find anything so i apoligize if this has been asked.

I just installed the Kenwood DDX8017 and i also bought the Ipod controller intreface and the amp controller cable. The problem is both the amp controller cable AND the Ipod cable seem to plug into the same port....which is the CD changer.

Now the navigation port is the same type of plug but as i tried it would not read the Ipod or allow control of the amps.

So my question is, has some else run into this problem?? And is there some type of adapter to allow BOTH to be connected?

I find it hard to believe Kenwood overlooked something like this....if they did, this is extremely dissappointing.

Thanks in advance

You need a KCAS-210A. It will allow you to connect both of your units to the one changer port. Just so you know, in case you are running more than one Kenwood Excelon amp. Only the first amp needs to be hooked up the the changer port, all the rest will be daisy connected using a S-Video cable. Quality is not an issue since it is only sending information not video so use the lowest cost S-Video cables you can find. You can connect up to 7 amplifiers.

and just in case you're playing around with the iPod interface on the 8017 and wonder if yours is defective, it isn't...it just sucks REAL bad...it's slow and NOT user friendly whatsoever...that's why i got a Harman Kardon Drive+Play

perhaps you don't keep folders with lots of songs in it...try scrolling through a folder with more than 50 songs in it, while driving and pushing an imaginary button on the touchscreen...

After looking at the Harman Kardon product, it does look pretty cool.
