I think it was about AUD $200 including materials and labor - it's only MDF and some screws. If I had a handyman's bone in my body I would do it myself There would be no more than $20 worth of materials - it's all just labor.

so the dimension is exactly like the picture above then? except now u just have it face upside down? and how easy was it to get it to fit in there, esp bolting it up

The dimensions were identical and yes we faced it upside down; I think you could make it a bit bigger but I'm not an expert on what impact this would have on the acoustics of the bass so someone else might be more qualified to comment on this aspect.

As far as getting it in, the installers said it was fairly straightforward - I'll ask them if there are any special tricks to it. Making the box bigger might make it a bit harder perhaps given there would be less space to work with?

hmm thanks for your help. If i redo my box, i may have to try this design...i think have the sub face down or up or away would sound better than haveing it face towards my back...I want to hear some real boom, instead of some thump thump...hehe

The guys who did the install were amazed at how much bass there was using this setup; I was expecting a "Well, it's not too bad" type reply but it was anything but this.

I think the important thing is that there is enough bass for my tastes in music.

However bad that taste may be...

Cool

I installed the following gear in my Z
1)Clarion DX745MPheadunit
2)XM Satellite Myfi.
3)1 pair of Phoenix Gold 6.5 components in the front doors,
4)1 pair of Phoenix gold 6.5 coaxials in the rear
5)60 square feet of sound deadening purchased from http://www.edesignaudio.com/us.php?cur=USD Dynamat is way too expensive when this stuff is a quarter of the price and performs just as well
6)1 Phoenix gold 8.0.4 Octane R amplifier for the four speakers inside
7)1 Memphis Audio 16-MCA300 150w x 2 amp running bridged mono at 4ohms (600W) powering.....
8)1 JL Audio stealthbox designed specifically for the 350Z (Fiberglass enclosure housing two 10w3 v2 subs)
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1416

I ordered a second glove box from performance nissan to mount 1 amplifier in each glove box. Did not come with the brackets to support the glave box so I ordered that from my local dealer.

I looked at designs for single and double 10' subs mounted under the strut bar (found on eBay), and strut bar forward setups that rested against the interior housing the rear speakers. I finally decided on the stealthbox from JL Audio as it offered the least amount of space sacrificed, with both of the compartments behind the seats being used for amplifiers my only option was to sacrifice some space in the back and the stealthbox was the best choice in my opinion, not to mention the fact that the box utilizes stock holes already present in the Z (child seat anchor must be removed) to bolt directly to the vehicle. The url above has an excellent step by step guide to disassembling the Z interior which was a real help.

Like all the JL Audio products, the stealthbox is expensive (bought mine on eBay for $400 and some change for shipping) retail its gonna rock you for about $750 icluding the subs. But there is NO better fiberglass enclosure designed for your Z unless you can build yourself.
I have two basslink units, they are fine for your girls car or a car you dont feel like doing a serious install on (my 4x4).
But you have to ask yourself

"Did I buy my Z to cut corners and skimp"?
I say no

I am extremely pleased with the equipment choices I made and the sytem is banging.

Here's a few shots with the wrong date stamp (im tired of setting the correct date) I can post more of the finished results if anyone would like to see.

Which URL? Those are for the products themselves. Excellent job, by the way. Good equipment choice.

Then I will etch out the Bose symbol and place an Eclipse label there.

Is this possible to do with wood?

I donot want to have an installer do this because everytime I have someone install equipment they screw up my car and then I have to bring it back. I am really good at installing but I have not attempted a sub box.
The Eclipse 10" titanium will not fit installed conventionally, ie facing upwards. The magnet will contact the gas tank.

i'm lookin for the pics myself too, someone else pointed me at the enclosure, but after i measured the stock area i abandoned it.. I'm glad you got it working.. i'm in an 06 roadster, so a 'strut bar box' isn't an option for me, and the trunk is pointless in a roadster, since all the sound won't make it through the spot where the top gets stored, and i don't need to be heard 2 miles away.
