Will the stock Bose cover fit with the box as shown, and I'm also wondering if that cover will rattle - since it doesn't seem very tight.

thanks...Pablo'Z
I didn't secure the box at all actually. It fit so snug that it never budged. I have seen others tie it down, but I never had to. No, I didn't use Dynomat either. I cant remember if I used the stock metal cover or not, but the stock plastic outer cover did fit back, and I never had rattling issues..... I never had the base really booming though, I was just wanting a little better sound in general.... not something that shook other cars nearby! I havent had the z since December, but actually still have the box in my basement, so if there's anyone local that wants to check it out let me know!

i was also thinking about the same idea. My idea was to use the stock sub bracket as the front. and then build a box with one and missing and attach it to the back using fiberglass and resin. However, the issue is the hole for the subwoofer extends to the top of this bracket. So if I were to attach the box to the bracket when sliding the box/bracket in, the top and bottom in the middle by the sub hole would get stuck.

So Im just making a custom box. Its not going to be that angled *** box. Just gonna be a rectangle. Im not sure why you would want to have all those angles.

I'm working on a fiber glass box my self using the sub bracket mold. It's kind of like the one a vendor sells here for the glove box. I'll post pics when I can.

how are you planning on making it fit on the top portions of the sub where it meets the frame?

are you just fiberglassing it?

I was didnt want my car smelling like resin for ever. I thought possibly having the noise in the space would amplify it even more also.

I want pics dammit!

Ill post mine as I go. I also gotta find the site with the bose subwoofer cover peice. I believe called an ornament

I just took a mold of the glove box and sub bracket.

These were taken with my cell, but maybe this will give you an idea. I'm going to give it one more layer before I put it in the car.

I cant find a single 12" sub that has a small enough mounting depth without it being a swallow mount.. Anyone find one for this wood box?

Anyone else done this mod lately? I want to do this as soon as possible. Would you get a better sound with a down fire sub than one that faces the seat?

What is the best sub for that box. A JL 10w1v2? They don't take a lot of airspace.

I have a 10W3v2 installed in the factory location. I used dynamat to cover up the insides of the compartment, and then used foam spray to seal up the openings. An MDF board was cut to replace the OEM Bose bracket, and then more dynamat and foam spray further sealed it. It is visually ugly but the Bose grill covers it up. Then I proceeded to tweak the sub using the amp's crossover and EQ from the head unit. :-)

I complete this project yesterday with Autobahn AWC10T element. It makes a real difference to original and much better than bose. Fits perfectly to original compartment and secured behind original factory sub bracked.

Thanks for original design.

I am going to build this box over the weekend. I have not messured the stock location yet and was wondering if there is room to make the width 17" instead of 15.5" If so then I can get .75 square feet of volume for the 10" RF P3 I want to use. Anyone know if I can do this?

Default I have a custom 12" subwoofer box for sale from zenclosures

Don't have a Z anymore, it was for 06 model style for 1 12" sub. check out this site below for the image of the exact box. Although i had them make it with just one 12" opening considering such a small car thats all you really need. I leave near allentown PA and am willing to meet to sell it. Paid $175 selling for $40..its just taking up space. If you would like to meet contact me at MKocher10@gmail.com, i never go on this site so if you respond on here i wont get it. I also have pictures of the box i can send you, i don't know how to post pictures on here.

-Mike

^You got the ****ed one. Why didn't you get under the strut? Takes out half your trunk but you still have something lol.

I didn't bother reading through this thread, but has anyone fit a 12" in the stock location? I'm tired of having under the strut subs, starting to look cheap IMO. Also, where would you hide 2 amps?
