I was wondering how happy owners of the 8500 are. I have one an seems like I pick up a fair amount of what I would consider "false" Ka warnings. Also, some of the warnings that I get are just a few seconds before I actually will see the officer. Not sure if this is because of instant on or now. Thought I was totally busted by a DPS officer this weekend. I saw him as the detector went off but the road was hilly. I'm still happy with it and still have no tickets but I wanted to see if any one else had seen the same things.

 

im happy with mine. i don't miss the arrows at all ... i dont care where the signal is coming from if im speeding and i get the radar goes off, im going to brake ... i dont really care where the signal is coming from.

there are a few more fake signals than the v1, however.

when me and howard were testing them out on 71 coming to and from austin. i picked about about 4-5 fake signals that he did not get. i thought i had only picked up fake k bands before from certain areas ... but i did recieve (i think) 2 fake ka bands that howard didnt pick up ... and they were very strong, too.

the v1 and 8500 are pretty much equals (performance wise), however, i like the 8500 better than the v1. $100 cheaper, smaller, looks a lot better

 

I love mine. I know of two spots where I get a false K or Ka band. One is a "BP Connect" market that has something that sets my K band off. and there is one place that I get a Ka band sometimes (this spot is 300 yards from a police station!) Other than that I always treat K or Ka band as a true alert. If you put it in expert mode you can even get a multiple band bogey counter with signal strength indicator. Great feature! I have found several cops stalking areas where there are an abundance of false x bands to hide their K and Ka bands. The 8500 sniffs them out quite well.

Very nice laser detection as well.
