Well, I was getting 6 1/2 in. componet speakers to replace the crappy BOSE system I have in my car. I have looked at all the audio shops in the area comparing sound and prices. Sound quality is important to me but I don't want to spend $600 on highs and mids. I have previously had MB Quartz (when they were good pre-Rockford Fosgate), OZ Audio, Alpine, and several others in other vehicles. I have looked at the shops around here and the 2 front runners are the FOCAL 165 V1 and the Pioneer TS-C160R. I relly couldn't believe the sound quality from the Pioneers. I see in the pics at your web site that you sell Pioneer, what do you think of the TS-C160R's?

i think they are horrible, honest opinoin, lackluster midbass, so so highs, and strangly harsh midrange...not my kind of speaker..i am not a pioneer dealer anymore, when i had the shop in PA, we were

well, you are always gonna find better prices on line or on ebay, but remember they have no warranty so...

i am more of a smooth sounding speaker kind of guy

whcih is why i love DLS...

I listen to mostly country or rock and heavy metal. Not a whole lot of rap and R&B. I want that tight base not the long drawn out BOOMS! I want sound quality and hearing speakers in sound boards really can't give you a feeling of what it will sound like in a car. FOCALS get really high marks and everyone speaks so highly of them, but everyone has different opinions.

check on few items and the price seem low (same as ebay). For example:

Kenwood Excelon DDX8017: $1058
JL Audio 10W6v2 Sub: $299

Dunno if this site offers, but woofersetc (whom I've dealt with exclusively on many installs in the past and even bought some of my new stuff from) offers their own in-house warranty to cover products like JL whose warranty is voided for online sales. And I've always been amazed with their level of customer service and knowledge of their products.

+1!!!

woofersetc is top notch! After reading a several sites' recommendations, I bought my stereo at WE and can't say enough great things about them. They have a great selection, price, are knowledgeable, friendly, and provide fast shipping.

However buying electronics online is only for highly technical DIY types. Online you risk buying missmatched components and frying them wired incorrectly. If you are not technically trained find a highly recommended local shop to help you select and install an awesome system without the DIY pain.

+1 .... Make sure your Focals come with the serial# card that matches the speakers. K2P's and Utopias have them, not sure if lower model Focals have those authenticity cards.

16PSI- Why the DLS over the Dynaudio? What is the distinguishing factor in your opinion. I personally favored the Dyn's. I guess both are made in prime speaker building area of the world.

Focal uses Dealer network price fixing to avoid supporting their product!? Now I am even happier I didn't buy French!
