Default ATTN: People with Bose

This is probably going to sound stupid to some people, especially the Bose haters out there. Nevertheless, it worked nicely for me so I'm going to post it up anyway.

I am not the world's biggest audiophile. I have been happy enough with the Bose system. However, the bass seemed to always be off balance, at low to medium volumes, usually the bass would drown out the midrange and highs. So I usually just turned the bass way down. Now I can barely hear the bass, but at least it isn't drowning out the music.

So, I checked the Fader setting, it was set to the *rear* two clicks!!

Seeing no reason for it to be set behind me, I changed the fader to neutral. Suddenly, the bass sounded much clearer and it wasn't drowning out the music!

I tried setting the fader forward 1-2 clicks, and I found that this seems to be the optimal!! (At least for me)

With the fader set BACK 2 clicks, I usually listened to Bass +1 or +2. +3 or more would always drown out the vocals and music...

With the fader set FORWARD 1-2 clicks, I now listen to the Bass at +4 or +5! And it doesn't even come CLOSE to drowning the music out!!! I am listening to THUMPING crystal clear bass (Bose haters go away, it's good enough for me) and the vocals are usually more weighted to the front now.

I keep the Treble setting usually around +2 to +3, which is good for most vocals IMO.

I am literally 100x happier with this setup and listening to some songs with a lot of bass really puts a huge smile on my face now.

Just wanted to share, this tiny adjustment made such a big difference to me.

If you were to replace the whole Blose system (with just about ANY aftermarket system) you would be amazed at how much sound you are missing. When I replaced mine I couldn't believe how little sub the Bose had, at any setting.

You must have missed the part where he said "bose haters go away".

Putting a big thumping stereo in your car was cool when I was in college. Since then, blowing out my eardrums and forcing other motorists to listen to my bass at stoplights has lost it's appeal.

I know the Bose sub isn't the best, but it just got a whole lot better according to my ears.

I actually just changed it to fader forward 3 clicks... even better sound...

seems as if my front left speaker goes in and out. I wonder if its a loose wire or the microphone thing turning the volume down. All the other speakers seem to be fine.

I put 3 clicks to the front, and 2 left, sounds ok. Still want to replace it.
