Default 2006 Dash Removal

Those of you who've switched out your HU in a 2006... how'd you get your center dash apart? Is it any different than previous years?

very similar, the only difference is the new tabs to expose the screws at the top of the HU mount. Pull off the rubber mat and pull out (towards you) the black plastic tabs to expose the screws.

FYI - the dash kit won't fit right.. The new one isn't out yet.

Anyone know when the new one is due to come out? Seems like it should be here by now. I'm getting tired of looking at this one in my dash, looks so wrong...

I really don't understand the change at all...I mean...wtf?! All I know is the new BOSE doesn't have a casette and the corners are rounded instead of squared...pointless changes...

The rubber mat inside the cubby...it didn't look like it could come out? Am I understanding you correctly?

yes - the rubber mat in the cubby. Just pry up on it with your fingers.

Dash kit? Can you clarify what won't fit and what you are waiting for?

I've just received an NDK740 for my forthcoming 2006 zed..... Won't this fit properly then?

the way the dash kit fits at the bottom on the 06 isn't the same as the 05, there's more curve on the 06. so we're waiting for a properly made dash kit to be released for the 06

So by 'dash kit' you are referring to a replacement for the NDK740 to specifically fit the 06+?

I just wanted to be clear on what 'kit' your referring to, the above, or a Nissan developed 'kit', for example.

Cheers!

L.

Of course it can be done. ANYTHING can be done if you're willing to pay for it. It just won't be cheap.

Right now, Metra doesn't have kits for ANY 2006 cars, not just Nissans. The pulldown menu on their site barks at you the moment you select the year. I emailed their rep and will post when I hear back from him.
