Thumbs up Bose amp + HU with no internal amp?

Hey all...

I have an Alpine HU that I cannot remember the model right now. But it's supposed to be a "competition" model from a couple years ago that comes with no internal amp. Now, I have a touring with the bose system and I do know that there is a Bose amp. But is that Bose amp just for the subwoofer? Are the rest of the speakers powered by an internal amp on the Bose HU?

I'd like to put in my headunit but I need to know what the Bose amp is for first in my case...

Thanks for any help.

the bose powers everything if i am not mistaken, theoretically, you may be able to interface the pre amp output of hte alpine and the bose, but i sure wouldnt try it, time for an aftermarket system install! woot!

I agree with you that it is time for all aftermarket..

I have a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 and a JL12w6v2 waiting to go in along with the HU but I'm waiting till I pick the front components.

I want the Focal 165KFs but I'm a little hesitant to spend that much on them. So I was going to install the HU until I get the components, and start building my box for the sub in the meantime.

Why do you say you wouldn't try to interface the preamp to the Bose amp? Any reasoning behind that? Or are you just saying I might as well upgrade the whole thing, it's not worth it? Thanks for the help guys.

just bypass the bose amp, cause trying to interface it will just be a headache and make it still sound like crap. bypass it and have some fun. then if you need to go back to stock just plug in all the factory equipment!
