Do you want the best, or something under $200? I picked up 2 pair of FOCAL Polyglass 165V1's (which many believe FOCAL is top of the line) which are getting good reviews in magazines for under $200 a set on EBAY plus shipping.

Watch who you buy from on Ebay. I had some issues with certain sellers selling used goods or remanufactured or even broken goods claiming they were new. I am still waiting for two Ebay companies(Sonic Electronics and Indio Electronics) to return things I sent in that were defective and it has been over a year wait!

The only people I would deal with on Ebay are direct manufacturers like CDT or Phoenix Gold Online. On Ebay you can get set of Phoenix Gold Elite mids and crossover for $225. The advantages are 1) you are buying directly from Phoenix Gold not some middle man and PG has and will honor all warranty claims. 2) The speakers are made by Morel and sound fantastic. 3) The mids are only 2" in depth and will fit easily in the door with only a 1/2" MDF spacer (shallower than the stock spacer). 4) Unlike many other mids I tried, these actually produce great mid-bass.

The only downside is, these do not come with tweeters.

The new RSD comps from Phoenix Gold are supposed to be affordable and they naturally being made by pg great performers

Exile Audio also makes a nice set of shallow comps.

Kind of hard to ask for the best and set a $200 limit. When you think about it, the components are the most important part of your system, they will provide you with most of your sound. Like another person said, Focals are your best best (I have a set of 165K2Ps). I would spend a little more and get a decent set of lower end Focals (still better than most brands) or some Boston Acustics.

its not kinda hard to ask the best and set a 200 limit. if you have a budget, you have a budget, and as for being the most important, they wont do crap w/o a good amp, what about a h.u. a 600 dollar set of components to a crap amp wont be worth a damn, right. my question was what is the best speaker for around 200. really it's not that hard of a question, is it. a decent set of lower end focals? what models????boston acoustics, same question what models???? i want something that will fit under the factory grill, i dont want to buy a door pod, making a spacer is ok as long as it will all still fit under factory grill.

The best speakers are the ones that sounds best to you. There is no substitute for your own ears. Of all the speakers I've heard (focal, infinity, cdt, diamond, etc) I liked Boston Acoustics the best. Sound is soo subjective, it's impossible to gauge if you'll like a set of speakers just my anohter's opinion. Try to find a store that sells the speakers you are interested in and give them a listen.

also listening to speakers on the wall of a store is not a good way to judge speakers.... it really just comes down to what works in your car... I went through several pairs before I ever settled...

if you cant post a legitimate answer, then be mature enough not to post at all.
