Kenwood Amp Problem
...first post! I need some help.
Background: I used to have a Kenwood amp set up and it was installed (very-ghetto) in front of the strut and just sitting on top of the trunk carpet.
Today: decided I was sick of looking at wires and having minimal trunk space so i pulled out the carpet covering in the trunk.
- Unplugged all wiring
- Relocated Amp
- Re-routed some wires to avoid them from showing when i put the trunk carpet back on.
- Plugged back in all wiring
Problem: Amp has power, but i get NO sound out of my speakers. Not even a hiss when i turn up the stereo loud. I have a small sub that runs off of my head unit from separate RCAs and it works. What is my problem? I'm leaning toward an RCA input problem, but HOW? all i did was unplugged/moved/re-plugged. Any ideas? Thanks

i'll check it out, but my only thought is that since my sub runs off the same power source (it's just split so power goes to my powered sub and the other wire goes to my amp), my sub is working fine. Theres also a 40a fuse on the amp, but how would either of these blow? I literally had everything unplugged for less than 30 minutes. What in the world? (frustrated)
is it possible to blow crossovers on both left/right sides? Everything was working perfectly. I'm thinking an amp output problem because of the fact that I don't even get a hiss out of my speakers, like they're not getting powered by the amp or something.

If you get nothing at all. No hiss and the cd player turns on then it has to be a signal problem. Check the RCA cables once again to find out if there is a problem coming from the cd player. Then check the speaker wires to make sure they are all hooked up.
What I would recommend is unplugging everything and restarting.

ok, did a couple of things...
first - unplugged my remote wire from my sub (i'm getting rid of the sub anyways, and the connection sucked.
connected the amp remote wire back up to the head unit. (still no sound)
checked amp fuse - its good
tested RCAs out of the head unit "rear" speaker output, no sound
new symptom: amp fan turns on, but no amp light on anymore
remote problem? or actual power problem?

i'll try that idea. also, the fan on the amp turns on, but not the light anymore. is it that easy to blow an amp? i've used this thing for over a year and now it decides to die???
