Default Harman Kardon FM Transmitter Technology

I purchased this after too many lane swerves playing with the iPod

My question on the factory stereo is how the Wired FM Transmitter works. It seemingly has you disconnect your attena and replace it with this FM Transmitter Box.

Will I still be able to listen to FM stations?
Will I have the same interference I have with the iTrip (tiny Wireless Transmitter that sticks in the bottom)?
The iTrip doesn't transmit the signal loud enough, I can crank it to the max and not be satisfied will this remedy the problem?
Is the best way a 3.5mm line-in as I don't believe it is available on the back of our radios?

Thank you if you took the time to read through all this!

The HK antenna Ys into your stock one, so no change to your FM reception. However FM transmit quality sucks, so use the phono plug with a AUX-IN HU. Or return the HK, and get an IPOD ready HU with digital direct controls for the best sound and looks.

Does it suck? Really? Damn, the FM transmitter thing is my only option as I don't have aux output on my stupid HU!

The standard FM mod is not a very good quality setup (none are). However, the in-line FM mod is a marked improvement in SQ. Is it 100% of aux-in quality .. no, but it is close.
