Default For those looking for a PC for the Z

Looks like a pretty cool solution in a very small package. They also offer more feature packed models that are slightly larger. The larger models have an open PCI slot for wireless networking if you wanted to go that route.

Now all I need to find is an affordable VGA screen.

Yes, you can build your own pc for significantly less money, but as has been discussed before you'd potentially run into issues with the hard drive skipping due to shock, and putting something together in a package that small would be very difficult.

These pc's seem to be designed specifically for this purpose. I agree totally that the price is insane, but a lot of people on this forum seem to have discovered an infinite well of money when it comes to Z upgrades. Wish I could discover that secret stash too.

If you want a HDD that is built to withstand shock that is only a little research. Laptop HDDs are built to withstand a lot more shock than regular HDDs and I am willing to bet that the HDDs they use in those PCS are not special hard drives in any way.

Actually for one of those small boxes I wouldn't get a HDD... they have a flash drive option for a couple hundred more which should works just fine and are solid state.

The price complete isn't that bad actually. If you look at Shuttle's MicroPC bare bone systems they run about 300... then after you add on components, it goes up to about 700+.

Wow I didn't know they had flash HD around; they are UDMA 66 which is plenty fast.

Actually there are much smaller PCs that are built for portability and come with ALL of the bells and whistles. As small as your hand.

These by far are the best portable PCs around.

Those are really nice. Definitley a good choice. Wish I could justify the purchase for myself. I'm on the verge as I want mp3 playback in the car and think it would be cool to have my car on the lan at home.

Anyone located a good VGA screen that would fit in the NAV compartment that isn't extremely expensive?
