Default Bluetooth and Airbags?

I went to the dealer this morning and they told me that my airbag light came on because of the bluetooth in my car. My question is what does bluetooth have todo with the airbag system?

I have not picked it up yet, but will when my car is done and im going to ask them to explain it.

unless you made a mistake when you hardwired it... nothing that I know of...

does that mean if I use a bluetooth headset inside the car, my airbag lights will go on?

it's the same principle... bluetooth is bluetooth whether from a fixed source or headset...

so I think you may have tapped the wrong power supply... just a guess

I hard wired it myself, my taps were made to the radios power and ground.
They did say that it got tripped many months ago, i was in an accendent last July/Aug. maybe it got triped then and the light never came on tell now.

As long as you disconnected the battery, and didn't use a powered test probe installing the BTI it wouldn't trigger the air bag. So their feedback is amusing! It's very interesting the Dealer stated the car computer recorded a AB sensor incident without deploying the airbag! There is grey area where the AB controller senses an incident (either an alarm/stereo Installer's power short or impact accident) but not enough to trigger the AB. There is no non-destructive AB diagnostic to determine if it is good. If you feel lucky ask the Dealer to clear the bit, and recheck it in a few months. Otherwise it will be >$2k to replace it. Good luck!

ok got it back, they really didnt know what sent the airbag light, all they knew was it was tripped over 60days ago. So it could have been longer then that. Anyways they just resent it. No bad sensiors.
Thanks for your input guys.

I did get to meet a nice blond Z driver this morning, so that made my day

Probably an errant current surge flipped the bit.
Clearing it should be safe. I am impressed the Dealer reset it!
Most shops would have tried to rip you off, by replacing the sensor.
Thanks for the update.
