LCD 2-way pager alarms
I remmember one of the threads talking about the VIPER (responder) 790xv alarm. It pages you when your alarm goes off, it's a car starter, etc. It costs about $500 installed. But I found many other Lcd 2 way pager alarm systems for much cheaper (like $200 or $300 installed).
My question is: what is so good about the Viper 790xv? The reason why I'm asking this question is because I want to justify spending $500 on an alarm....any input would be appreciated.

lo-jack and it's early warning system for $800 will pay for itself in the long run because your insurance company should offer a rebate for having lo-jack installed. (assuming you don't get your car insurance out of the back of a van).

I have it installed on my Z....why did i pick it???
1. Brand Name...DEI product...by the way DEI now owns both Viper and Clifford
2. Compatibility, quality of parts...sure you could get one cheaper...but be warned...installs like this arent a walk in the park...DEI products seem to be more reliable and easier to work with...you don't want to pay $200 for some guy to open your dash/steering column/whatever else they take apart and put in your alarm only to find it has problems a couple months later.
3. The range is great
Basically its up to you...if you can get one for $200 and make it work well and last long...then i definitely commend you.
