Default Need Help with SPST Relay

OK I got a 30 AMP SPST relay from Radio shack to make my own ignition/ACC source.. I just need to confirm that this is correct for the 4 pins on the relay:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062477

85- connect to a good ground
86- tap remote turn-on lead from the cig lighter
87- to the remote turn-on leads on my amps and processors and etc,..
30- a constant 30 AMP fused 12 volt source (ie. battery with 30AMP inline fuse)

Should this work? I just wanna make sure before i power it up and possibly blow everything up

thanks,

Couldn't find the wiring description on their web page but you probably got it right.
30 - just fuse it for 1Amp if you are just turning on your amps and processors. No need to go any higher than that. 30A is a ridiculously high value for such a small demand.

Thanks for the reply, I'm also powering a radar detector + laser shifter, Sirius module and reverse camera.. and will be installing a Defi HUD with Defi link II controller..

oh and it provides remote turn on for the CarPC too..

maybe i should drop it down to a 20A fuse and go from there??.. I blow the stock 15A fuse every few months with this setup.. but then the stock ACC line has a lot more other things hanging off it

Your wiring will work, but the relay is way overkill. Kinda like using a sledgehammer to drive in a nail.....it works, but there are lighter tools for the job.

Everything cost me < $10... I wired it up tonight and since there is very little information on how to did this here I'll post my final working diagram for posterity..

keywords: ignition, ACC, relay, spst, remote turn on

You could eliminate the relay by just adding a fuse holder and fuse to either the IGN wire or the ACC wire. You can access these two wires right behind the main ignition switch rather easily, probably in the same spot you got the 12vdc feed.
