Default Please help me tune my system

Ok, I am not getting the sound I'm looking for out of my system and know it can be alot better. I know some basics of car audio but I just don't know how to tune it properly. I listen to mostly rap and rock but am looking for strong sound up front and nice tight and hard bass.

Heres the equipment:
Head unit: Alpine CDA-9857
Front: Infinity Kappa Perfect components 6.1
Sub: 1 10w6v2
Amps: Kicker KX300.2 feeding the Infinity's
Kicker KX600.2 bridged to the sub.

Ok, so my big question is how should I have my settings?
For instance - the head unit allows you to adjust the crossover frequency of the bass and treble along with the Q and level in DB. What should this be at?

On the amps, there is a hi/lo/off pass filter. Should I set my 300 to high pass and the 600 to low pass? The crossover goes from 50-200. Where should each be crossed over on the amp? The gains I have to set properly and should I be using any bass boost on the amp?

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated. I know all ears are different but if I could get a starting point I'd really appreciate it.

Chris

You want to use either the crossovers in the amps or th edeck... I would use th eones in th edeck since it is much easier to adjust things when they become necessary.

Set th ecrossovers to 80Hz Hi pass for fronts and 80 Hz Low pass for sub and that will be your starting point.

You may want to try 60 and 60 for rock

I always liked 50 and 50 on my old stuff.

For rap 80 and 80 sounds good. You won't blow anything up with that...

I think this deck only has a crossover for the bass not for the mids. If I cross at the amp, then can I cross at the same spot on the deck for the bass?

Thanks for the posts Ahsmo. The problem is that I dont think it will let me skip over at the deck. I need to set a crossover point.
