That's new to me. Last time I checked bose sucked in my old Audi, as with any other car I've ever see it in.

Bose = junk. its nothing more then a name. I will never ever ever own bose unless I have no other options.

As an example, back when Acura had Bose, it was better than any of the current Nissan's Bose system.

Not true. I installed the Pioneer DEH-P680MP in my Z and was still able to keep stock speakers, etc...and surprise, surprise, they sounded a hell of a lot better with the new HU than when the stock Bose POS was in dash.

Go aftermarket.

After reading BOSE threads for 3 years, it is my understanding that :

- You CAN change the HU of the Bose and keep the rest IF you use a line output converter. The Audiolink PD4 and other LOCs change the signal out of the after market HU to match the Bose signal tot he amps. http://www.linkmeup.com/pd4.htm

- The same can be used to change everything else (amps, speakers) and keep the Bose HU.

I have read reports of people changing the HU and everything sounds great, but was never clear if they used some kind of LOC or it happens that the line output from the new HUs matches the Bose.

Regarding the 2006 unit (with MP3), wouldn't changing the rest of the facia on the console do? I don't think they would have change the frame itself, there is no point in that...

I wanted to keep eveything looking stock, and not get to crazy....I called the dealership here in AZ and asked the service department they said it was possible and that I would only need to buy a connector or something....so any other recommendations on the headunit? I want a double din one, and want to keep the bose speakers and stuff...( i know i know they suck...but id ont want to spend a lot of $)

If you had the 03 Bose, the 05 Bose would be a direct plug in. The advantage is it gives you aux controls so you can hook up an iPod etc. Search on iPod/aux for threads on this. I went from my 03 to an 05 for this.
