To hookup an after market HU to the stock Bose speakers and amp, you need an AudioLink PD4 or similar LOC (line Output Converter) as part of the install. Here is the description on the AudioLink :

I got one at home but never installed it. From the 03 Bose I went to an 05 Bose HU to add my iPod input, and I am happy so far with that.
I am again studying HUs, but I am looking for Nav etc...

I wonder if the audio pilot is acting up. The audio pilot is the thing that raises and lowers your volume on your BOSE, but I think it talks to your AMP to do this. The BOSE HU 2004.5 forward has an option to turn it off.
At this point, since you installed the new HU already, what you can do is try the cheap solution, it is a 0.19c resistance you insert into the audio pilot microphone so that the volume stays put.
Here is the thread with the solution : https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....se+audio+pilot
If it IS the audio pilot doing it, this should solve it.

I use to really love Eclipse and had them in my previous three cars, but after looking at the new line, considering the cost, and feedback from those that carry and install them, I have since went to Alpine. I also liked the cost and functionality of the Alpine ipod adaptor much more than the Eclipse.
