Default Fuse for Monster amp kit?

I'm in the middle of installing a Monster cable amp kit and just realized that they did not give me a fuse. What kind of fuse do I need? I'm running an Infinity 4-channel and a basslink (about 900 watts of power) and I have the older model 1000 watt Monster kit. What rating should the fuse be? Should I get a fuse made by Monster or all they pretty much the same?

Thanks.

Open up the fuses for the four-channel amp and the basslink and then add them together. If the four-channel amplifier has a pair of 30A fuses and the basslink a 20A then you're looking at 80A worth of power. You need a minimum of an 80A fuse which I don't think they make so you go up to the next larger one which would be 100A.

PepBoys carrys these fuses as so the custom car stereo places that are all over the place.

Tip - you want to mount that fuse as close as you can to the battery to protect as much of the system as possible. The part between that fuse and the battery is unprotected so make sure that it's done right/tight.

Outstanding- that was very helpful. The basslink requires a 25 amp fuse and the amp has 2 30 amp fuses BUT it says the max current draw is actually 85 amps (the max draw on the basslink is 26). So do I need 85 amps of protection (the 100 amp fuse) or something like a 115 amps to cover the max current draw?

Thanks.
