Angry Kenwood KVT-910, Please help.

Last week I bought the Kenwood KVT-910 DVD, a Performance Techniques 500w amp, and a 10" Kicker CVR sub, with brain, harness, pretty much all required wires from a guy's ad in the recycler (www.recycler.com) for $600. Not a bad deal, I guess.. It came out of his 2005 350Z, so it was a good set up for me.

Here is my dilemma,

I just had it installed at my local stereo shop last night to find out when I turn the DVD player on it asks me for an unlock code.

I have owned Kenwood HU's before and totally forgot I would need an unlock code for this unit. I called the person who sold it to me and he told me he didn't get that code prompt when he put it in his Z (which is bull**** since this happens every time you disconnect it from power). So he says he will try and call the stereo shop he got it installed at, Kenwood, and even Circuit City where he originally purchased it 3-5 years ago, whenever this unit first came out.

I am yet to hear back from him today, but after being so pissed off last night searching vigorously through the internet for some sort of resolution, I've come up with SOME help (KCAR method, other reset methods), but still no go.

My question to you guys: Does anyone own a similar head unit, or know of anyway to bypass this from experience? I have a bad feeling that this guy will either; 1) Never get back to me, or 2) Tell me he cannot get the code. In which case I will try everything I can to get my money back, and bite the $160 installation cost.

I understand anyone who reads this can assume that I stole this unit and am trying to find an easy way to get into it. Well, assume that. That's definitely not the case.

I'm really just looking for some help/advise here, please no smart *** comments, you must take this situation in perspective first. I spent this money to see it sitting in my car and not working, imagine how I must feel.

Thanks for your time guys. I really appreciate it.

You need to press the reset button, as soon as the unit boots up a keypad will appear. At that point input this code 55222277. You must enter the code right after it boots up. By the way keep the unit get rid of the amp.

Thanks for your response, but it only lets me input (by pressing on the screen) 4 digits at a time. Would I need the remote for this? Thanks again.

Got it to work! The first owner gave me a code he uses for other things and it ended up working. No reset function worked. Oh well.

Thanks!
