How did you Seal off your StockSublocation
for those of you who have free air subs and infinity basslinks and anything else for that matter....
What approach have you taken to cpmpletetly sealing off that space?
maybe some pictures, products, quality, and prices ........

Well, I can only tell u what didn't work well...I tried the free air approach a while ago by dynamating the whole cubby area. There is a big hole surrounding the seat belt roller and I covered that with dynamat as well. I used a 10 inch image dynamic IDQ sub which supposedly works well for freeair applications. The bass didn't sound tight at all. Imo u are better off getting a box or fiberglass enclosure if u are looking for tight bass.

im getting a basslink but i still would like to seal off the entire area. i was thinking dymatting, simply cause i dont want vibration. anyone else seal off the entire area?
couldnt you like get high epoxy cement sealant and slapp fiberglass pannls everywhere. ghetto fab....theoretically it would be as good as dymatting woudnnit?

I haven't heard of anyone finding a sub that would work well in that location without installing a box against the front plate.
If that's really where you want it to go, you should do it right the first time. Take off the metal piece, and get rid of the holes. Connect that piece to the front of a box and put it all back in as one unit. I've never heard a good sound from a "free-air" sub.

would it be possible to start off using a cubby box like the passenger side one, then put a panel over the front, and strengthen it up a bit with some fiber glass and basically have a box that fits perfect? There atleast has to be a JDM cubby, if the passenger side on wont fit properly..... just a thought

Yeah, it's possible, but I think to make that work would be as much trouble as installing it behind the driver's seat. I would rather put it there anyway so I didn't lose my only storage in the car.
As long as you are going with fiberglass and reinforcing it, you may as well just go behind the driver's seat, IMHO.

i meant to put it behiind the drivers seat. I have a computer behind the passenger seat. I'd just get the cubby from the passenger side, mod it to fit behind the driver, then strengthen it with fiberglass and put a face on it for a sub to fit, or something...., if only just to hear this batman thing...
Well, doing that would take way more work than just building something from scratch, then. You have to worry about modding it to fit in the driver's cubby and you also have to make changes to the size of the enclosure depending on which sub you go with. It would just be easier to use some MDF and call it a day.
BTW, which sub are you going for?
