Try doing a search for more info. Compustar has a special reserve mode that makes it impossible to start your car while it is in gear or without the parking brake on. Viper does not. That's why they're the only brand that is authorized for remote start installs on manual transmission vehicles.

Actually.. it is fine as long as you dont put in gear when u park your car..
Just pull the handbrake hard enough. Your car wont roll away even you are not in a gear.
I have remote start in my manual.
But just make sure to tell the person if you let him/her drive ur car..

have a diod wired to your brakes so it will do an autokill if a signal is sent to start it while its in gear. thats what my installer did for me. we even tested it so see what would happen if it was in gear. it lurched like an inch or 2... goodluck. i always parked in neutral so when i got this auto start it wasn't a big deal...

www.CanadianTire.com. Use zip code H2E2V1 if you need to search...
Actually, an AT Starter is 69$
A MT starter is 99$.
That's Canadian money, so deduce 10%...
Want the car alarm option added ? 129$

AT starter don't have the e-brake and neutral switches. A MT equiped with that will move with the torque from the starter. The engine might start.

Read my above post. Compustar makes remote starter systems that are totally safe for a manual transmission Z. I have one on my car and the included turbo timer functionality works also. You have to have it in "reserve mode" for the timer/starter to work. It has to be out of gear, parking brake engaged, at a stop, and the clutch and brake pedals must be depressed for either feature to work. There is absolutely no way your car can get up and walk away from you. The only downside is that you have to get used to doing all of that if you want to use the feature.
Vipers do not have this feature, and are considered unsafe for this reason. No authorized viper dealer is allowed to install this feature on a MT car. Compustar is the only brand that is authorized to do so.

It is possible to somewhat safely install an auto starter on a 6mt if done right.
I personally wouldn't trust the parking brake to keep the car from moving, instead reference the OEM PNP switch signal. The PNP (Park/Neutral Position) switch signal rests at ground when the car is in Neutral, and ONLY when the car is in neutral.
All Viper alarms have dedicated Neutral Safety Switch inputs that can be connected directly to the VQ35s OEM PNP wire.
For reference, the PNP switch is mechanical, which makes it prone to failure. The switch is physically mounted INSIDE the tranny and is similar to the reverse switch that lights up your reverse lights when the tranny is in reverse. I have never heard of any internal tranny switch failures, but it would still be a good idea to test the PNP shutdown once a week.

Alright, Kids. Here is a story for ya.
I had a remote start installed on my last car, 3000GT. It was a manual. The installer made it to where if the car was left in first gear, then it would NOT remote start. Great safety feature, right? It worked great most of the time. Well, long story short, I started the car one day walking out from work. I look up, and my car is taking off across the parking lot. Then I started chasing my car. What a night. Take some advise, put a DOUBLE or TRIPLE safety feature in case one fails somehow.
