Remote Car Starter....
Read my above post.
It's impossible to start a Compustar alarm with the car left in gear due to the system required to put the car in reserve mode. I challenge you to find a single case of a car with one of these systems that walked away. I can always tell if it is in reserve mode, as it must be for the turbo timer function to work. Unless I intentionally prep the car for remote start, and nothing sets off the shock sensor while I'm away, my car will NOT remote start.
Fact is, you should be blaming your installer for your issue with your car walking off. Authorized DEI vendors/installers should NOT be installing the remote start feature on a Viper alarm on a MT car. If you go to an unauthorized installer or do a self install, you're also voiding the warranty on the system.

man all i know is one of the techs at nissan "accidentally" remote started my 06 Z while it was in reverse gear and the ebrake was down, car crashed into 2 other cars, no frame damage thank god, but my insurance company had to pay the price of $4400 worth of damage done just to my Z. New passenger door, side skirt, fender, rear bumper, repair & paint...oh and my wheel had to be refinished just to get the car back to stock...in fact i still haven't gotten my car back yet, should be getting it tomorrow...but its been gone for 3 weeks. don't go through the trouble...take my word for it. compustar and viper/clifford may all be top notch **** but when something goes wrong and the car takes off their not gonna be held liable for it. if you've been in my shoes then you know how the feeling is of your car remote starting and taking off...its like someone is stabbing you! but hey mistakes happen and we learn from them, im just trying to help you out.
I have the Compustar setup on my MT & it won't start:
1) If it is in ANY gear. It must be set at Neutral.
2) If the hood is left open (Just in case someone is working on your car which could get ugly if someone's hand is in your engine bay).
3) If the trunk or doors are open.
I've tried to purposely remote start it in these cases & it WILL NOT allow you to start the car.

i've been installing CompuStars for 6 years and it is 110% safe in a 6speed. Anyone with horror stories of their cars driving off obviously either do not have a compustar or their bonehead installer couldnt get the compustar to work in Manual mode so they cut corners and put it into Automatic mode.
yikes...my friend has one on his wrangler and he started it and it was in gear and went through his fence and moved his porch a few inches.....but they have sh!tty e brakes too....
