I have been researching them for about a week. I will be buying the Tom Tom GO 910, barring any major recall or glitch. It just came out about a month ago, so you really can't shop around all the places I have looked list it for about $799. I'm going to wait a couple of months to see how the reviews are and to see if there is any common glitches.
Good luck.
Some of the other common name brands are Garmin, Magellin, and Cobra.

i used the magellan 500 for a while and loved it... but i went to a kenwood ddx7015 with navi and i am happy with the upgrade... the portability would be nice... i thought about getting another to use in the wifes van or our extra truck when need be.

I like my Garmin Quest 2, but my brother has a TomTom with bluetooth and likes his too. I think the Quest 2 is smaller, which suits me better (packs easier and fits in a pocket) and I can take it camping, hiking or boating since it is water resistant.

I just bought a TomTom GO 910 and I've very happy with it. It has bluetooth and iPod control so you can remote control your iPod thru the touchscreen. Tomtom hasn't released the iPod cable so I haven't tested this feature out yet.

I am on my third Garmin, not because they have gone bad. I've beat on all mine so far and none of them have skipped a beat. They are also aggressive with updates and things of that nature when/if they find flaws. I'm very happy with their products. I had an eMap, a GPSIII+ and now the Quest 2. To me the Quest 2 has it all; lot's of memory, rechargeable battery that has good endurance, fairly rugged, small and seems to pick up signals well.
