Default amp problem

ok, last night i was finalizing the install on my 2 amps andi ran into some trouble

i did the 4 ch. (mtx thunder6304) last week and this week i was gonna finish it off with my 2 channel mtx thunder6500d amp, so i went out bought 2 distribution blocks 4awg to 8awg and split the little wire with a knife a and soldered 2 wires on, heres my problem. after i plugged the amp in, my friend kinda played with my *****, gain, freq,eq etc.

while i was trying to fix it, i noticed my speakers sound like crap (i didn't actually plug the sub in), now when i turn it up and the bass hits on the 6.5's in front they make a popping sound when i turn it up, did i blow my speakers up? did i do something wrong? i'm sorry if this is a stupid question i'm kind of a stereo noob

it sounds normal when its below a certain volume but once thy go up a bit they sound so bad.

is this just a settings problem? or did i blow them?

BTW this is my setup:

Avic-N1
eclipse 6.5's (40rms) front and back
mtx thunder 6304 (75w x 4 @ 2 ohms)
mtx thunder6500d (500 x 1 @ 2 ohms)
polk ex10 10" sub (its a cheap temporary sub until i get my RF punches i ordered online)

How many watts is your sub rated at? Sounds to me like you are trying to push the sub to hard. Depending on how "loud" you're playing it....you could have the best stuff money can by and play it to loud and it will sound like crap. Another possible reason could be the design of your sub box. If the sub is designed for a ported box and you have it in a sealed box for instance...or the amount of cubic ft. of your box vs. what the sub is made for. Alot of different factors can contribute to a stereo system sounding bad. On another note I saw that you are fixing to order RF's, check out JL's before you buy, I've had both and there is no comparison.

Nevermind all that ^....I thought you were talking about your sub. Same goes for the 6.5's though, you are prob running to many watts to them if they are rate at 40wts rms.

This doesn't make sense. I assume its relevant because you chose to mention this part. What do you mean?

my friend was helping me install the sub amp, orignally i had a 4awg straight to the 4ch, yesterday i put in the dist. blocks now its 2 8awg's, this happened when i was installing the 2ch amp, my friend started playing with the ***** when i was in the bathroom

i wasn't really blasting them bcause i get off of work late, it was about 1am i was doing this,i took the sub out so i could hear the speakers better the volume on the avic-n1 was about 20 or so, the gains were set really low, i turned the pioneer volume to about a 35 or so and i noticed the 6.5's click when the bass hits. so i just kept messing with the settings, seemed like every setting the bass would make the speakers let off this wierd loud click.

btw i'm not really a loud music person, i just wanted to get rid of the stock system and wanted something that sounds good.

sounds like your 'friend' fkd something up. Set your highpass filter for about 70hz.

Was going to say the same thing. It sounds like your components are getting the wrong frequency hitting them. I would start with 100Hz and see if it continues. If not, then back it down slowly until you find that right spot. Though it shouldn't be too much lower than 100Hz.
