Wow nice! How much did the lid cluster set you back from courtesyparts? $300? I don't really mind the gap in the first picture, probably won't even notice it much after awhile. I just installed my ddx7017 today! i love it! I need to get a rear view camera and a farenheit screen + the lid cluster to it now!

You also need to get the finisher as well, right? Also how is it connected and how does it operate? Once you put the key in the ignition, it turns on, key out, it turns off? I'm curious to know! BTW, what year Z did you put it in?

Hey guys, glad you like it. The lid cluster was indeed install in a 06 DB Z, and the color match perfect. And I install the farenheit screen that everyone has been using. The 7000 MHR I believe or something like that. Love the color on the screen, kind of better then my Z1 I think. I got the lid from courtesy for a little under 300, and I order the nav finisher from my local nissian for about 20 dollar. Which also made a gap and not flush with the dash. So I need pics of other people that also install this so I can see what the deal is.

evobunny, let me get this straight. The door opens correctly on its own at the touch of the button, but you have to manual close it? and you're trying to get the chip to let it open/close when the car is on/off?

ok this lid cluster was made for the stock nav. and on the back of the thing there is a chip which connect to the botton on top. well this chip is post to be connected with the stock nav also, which powers the door open and close. And which I also think open and close to the right amount and turn the motor off so it dont break it. Well I dont have the stock nav so I cant close or open it right now, until I figure something out to make it do it. There was a guy who was post to be making some kind of wiring ribbin thing, but I havnt heard from him again. You can read more about on one of those links above. So ones I figure something out, it should open and close by itself with the push of a botton. If anyone knows anything please let us know.

So here is the text from the courtesy web site.

Genuine Nissan replacement part for the 2006 350Z equipped motorized lid cover.
Lid cluster cover is for a 2006 350Z equipped motorized lid cover.
Lid opens and slides into the dash with a push of a button. Wiring and drive motor is not included.

See that last sentence. Your gonna need more than a "chip" to get it working correctly.
I want to install this in my 06'. Since you have it installed already can I ask you a couple of questions? are you able to operate it manually? when you push the button does it open by itself or do you have to lift it with your hand?
Can you close it by just grabbing it and pulling it down until it latches?

As for the fit, something is not right with the install. Have you taken it back apart and checked why it's not sitting flush with the console piece? That not being flush is probably why the nav finisher has a gap also.

More questions. What rearview camera are you using. The quality of the image looks really good compared to mine. where did you buy your monitor for the cubby and how mucho?
Just installed my Z1 last week. Badass unit. you can use that black trim ring that came with it if you trim it a liitle and put it between the Z1 and the back of the console. It's not right, but you don't see all that metal. I called Metra and they said they are making an 06' trim but had no ETA. Hope it's soon, for Christ's sake it's almost July.

Thanks,
Ray

One other thing. If you want all your nav features to work while your driving go over to ACIC411.com and buy the circuit that Ducatiboy sells. $30 shipped.
Works perfect!
