Exclamation Help Wiring a Pioneer Headunit

Hey everyone. im a noob hehe and i need help installing my pioneer deh-p960mp head unit. Right now im looking @ the wiring diagram and im having a hard time understanding what connects to what..

Im keeping the stock speakers and everything. all im doing is connecting a head unit sooo heres some of my problems...

1. right now im looking at this speaker wires and the ones the plugged into the factory unit and i cant find similarities between the wires. the only wire that connects up straight with the colors that i can see is the yellow one... does anyone know what connects to what..

2. i have a white & white/black, a gray & gray/black, a green & and green/black and a violet & and violet/black to connect. which ones do these connect into from the stock ones..

Thanx

It should be all color coordinated. I hope you bought a wire harness so you don't cut any stock wire... Hope it's not too late.

I'm talking about the harness that connects to the stock stereos harness. This way if you want to go back to stock you don't need to rewire it and it will be nice and clean. You can pick it up at a stereo shop or frys for about 10-15 bucks.

bleh. ill just go and pick it up tomorrow. once i get it should only be about 10 mins to wire everything up..

Heres what i got. the color on the left is the pioneer..

i got all this from using this...

RF Speaker +/- yellow/red - red/white +,- radio harness
LR Speaker +/- lt. green/red - black/yellow +,- radio harness
RR Speaker +/- blue/orange - black/pink +,- radio harness

does it follow???..... i think it does but i could be backwards?,,,,

Front Speaker Left

+ White ------------- Black/white
- White/black -------- Blue/red

Front Speaker Right

+ Gray ------------- red/white
- Gray/black ------- yellow/red

Rearr Speaker Left

+ Green ----------------- black/yellow
- Green/black --------------- Lt.Green/ red

Rear Speaker Right

+ Violet ----------------- black/pink
- Violet/black ------------ blue/orange

If you make the connection right you dont NEED the harness. It does save some work when and if you need to return the oem headunit into the system. Dont be a butcher on those wires though.

ima assume its allright and the right move. since the factory headunit obviously needs a ground. so its just transfering the power to this cord.

Yes you can use that ground wire. Or you can make your own by attaching it to a bolt or nut attached to metal in the console. Doesnt matter either way. But if you are going to "make" your own ground make sure the ground is attached directly to metal, not painted metal. If there is paint on your contact point it wont make a good ground. I always bust out the dremel and clean up my grounding points, paint or no paint.

splice another area of the 12v (yellow cord on the harness) and another area of the ground (black on the harness) and use an extension wire to bring it to the back? Since you have everything taken apart I assume, to stealth the ipod unit, then it shouldn't be too hard to stealth those wires as well.
