Default USB headunits... JVC

Has anyone else seen these yet?

JVC, among a couple other companies, makes some new headunits with USB ports right on the front.

Namely, the KDG720 and KDG820.

I was considering purchasing the 720 so I could easily plug in an ipod or thumb drive with music files.

Does anyone know anything about these? Pros/Cons? Experiences?
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

i have the JVC DVD player with the USB port. I love the thing, i change out songs so easily and always have new songs on. I really don't see any cons to this personally, except the cost of the flash drive, which most people have anyway.

Kenwood has one, the MCU-532, I have it and like it. It has a USB via cable that you can string anywhere vice the plug on the front like the JVC. VERY convenient. Easy to swap out music too. With iPod I have heard of them having problems, something to do with not being a FAT type of memory or some crap that Apple does to prevent us from shaing music. Looking back(or forward) I wish Alpine makes one. Id say go for it, you wont regret! I ran the USB to the NAV cubby. I think the JVC is more convenient btw, would have matched better with my RL too

thanks for the feedback.

I have an ipod and I know if I want to control it through the headunit i need the adapter, but it seems like i should still be able to plug it in and play the files right like i could with a thumb drive right?

Thats a big part of the reason im interested in this unit. it seems like a no hassel way to plug in an mp3 player.

The JVC has a input on the back for the ipod, you just have to buy a little adapter. so you can have the ipod hooked to the back, and still have the USB port open on the front. the ipod input is fully controlled by the headunit. i'm sure other units have it, i just know about the JVCs.

Yeah, it works pretty much the same as alpines and all the other brands ipod adapters... but im not to worried about controlling my ipod through the headunit or dropping another 50 bucks on an adapter.

I just wanna know if I can PLAY the ipod through the usb port.
