ok i just got my alpine type x in..(this thing is huge!!!!) so it seems that i might have to connect two amps to it.i might sound stupid, but does it matter if they are different???. one is a punch 500 and the extra that i have is a kenwood 600. i am not really into LOUDASS bass i think the punch will do fine but i was just wondering. btw this speaker peaks at 3000 watts. anyone know about these speakers.
two amps will just fukk up your speaker.
If you are not looking for monster Bass, that Punch should do fine. How are you getting a box with the correct airspace for this subwoofer in the Z?

yeah. i spoke to Z enclosures and they sold me a box made for the ALPINE type x and jl audio W7. but they never sent me a track # and they never answer the phone. wonder WTF is going on with them (done business w them b4 but never had issue)
same thing happened with me when I ordered something from him. I got the package the same day I got the tracking #. It should be all good though.
Give the Punch a try and if you feel that you need more work your way up.

Yea don hook up 2 amps to the same sub, and definately not 2 different kinds. You cant get the power the exact same and sone side of the sub will beat harder than the other, ending up ina nasty soundin sub, and then death of the speaker.
I would definatly get a new amp ASAP. that thing is supposed to get 1000wRMS, and with that amp your only givin it maybe 500. Underpowering a subwoofer can be jsut as damaging if not more damaging to the speaker. Think of it like a car your not gonna take a new C6 corvette and put a 1966 VW Bug engine in it are you?
