Default 6.5s or 6x9s in rear hatch trim panel?

Has anyone tried replacing the stock 6.5s behind the seats with some speakers in the trim panel at the rear of the hatch area? It would probably take a custom panel of some sort but it seems like it would probably sound better than having the speakers firing right into the back of the seats. Anyone with experience or thoughts on this?

You'll need to do some cutting an molding if you want to fit 6x9s. I have a pair of MB Quart 6x9s that were to go into an Accord before settling for a pre-order on the Z. I bought a couple boxes and fit them in the hatch. It works quite nicely, but it is not necessary if you can get some nice 6.5s instead.

my stance is still that unless youare doing 5.1 surround, having good speakres upfront is the key to getting good sound, espeically in a 350z, where hte rear speakers are right behind your head.

Hmm... I have a 6 + 1 setup. O_o

It sounds fine since I don't listen to music at full blast. Listening to the door speakers themselves (BA), I don't like them too much.

The new Infiniti has a 3 way bass reflex setup for the doors, so I'm not sure how I'm going to upgrade those.
