Default AVIC-Z1 Install Questions

Hey all,

I've been wanting to throw a nav into my '06 Touring for some time and now with the metra kit, it seems like it's finally possible I went to car toys today and they had a sale on the AVIC-Z1 for $2050. They told me that they could install but that I would lose the OEM Bose Sub functionality in the process. I'm not a huge fan of the OEM system, but I don't want to replace it and the amp just yet (especially near the $2k I'm gonna drop on this). Anyone that has done an install have this problem?

They basically quoted $2500 for the kit, install and bluetooth. I said F-that because I see it on Amazon for 1.6k. If the harness, kit and bluetooth cost $200~300- then they're making out with $700.

Anyway, I've never installed a system, but I've done what I think amounts to my "homework" on this and I'm pretty tech savvy myself. Is this something that I could pull off on my own if I ordered from Crutchfield or something? Or is the 700+ for an install worth it? Or better yet, does anyone have any recommendations for installers in the Seattle area?

Default Check out my post -

I just finish installing my Z1 and replace the whole OEM system. if you are Tech savvy as you said there will be no problems. In order to install the Avic and Keep your Boss system you need the PAC UNIT PAC LINK
