Default 350z subwoofer upgrade questions (volume etc)

I want to upgrade my sub. The question magic question is......

Does anyone know the volume of our enclosure and is it sealed.

Has anyone upgraded their woofer and been pleased?

I just did a small amp and even smaller woofer but very disatisfied with the outcome. I believe the enclosure is way to large and not sealed, thus not giving enough back pressure to the woofer.

It is not sealed. It is a free air enclousure. You need a free air woofer for it to work.

You will need some type of enclosure to get any decent response. Next question is what type and where can you sacrifice the space.
Some people use the rear corners
Some use the space between the strur bar and the rear speakers
Some try to use the space behind the drivers seat
Some use an box that fits under the strut
Some remove the rear tire and sink an enclosure into the spare tirewell

You need to figure out what you can sacrifice in terms of space and go from there

What about a high power 8" woofer inside a sealed box, inside the 10" stock setup.

Also.... has anyone tried to seal the stock enclosure some how? Maybe with dynamat or tar or some****

Default Box

A few people have tried to seal the enclosure with dynamat and then put a basslink! in there. I doubt it sounds all that great. If you are looking to keep things stock go to:

Call and ask for N***ar. They have a bunch of different boxes that fit in different places. He does all JL so its all really high end stuff. I am going to be ordering the door pods and the box that fits in the stock sub location soon. If you end up calling, tell him Bret recommended you.
