Default Computer Lock-out...

I'm repairing an '03 Track version salvage. It was hit passenger front - hard enough that I've had to remove the front clip and section in a new right front frame rail and inner fender rail. I had to remove the ECU/dash/wiring harness, etc. The engine ran well before the car came apart, but now will only turn over/dash lights up/etc. but won't fire. Anyone been this deep into a Z?

Are you using the same ECU and key that came with the car?

Do you have everything plugged in?

There really could be 1000 different things keeping the car from running.

You may try cranking it for an extended period to see if it throws a CEL.

Yup...same ECU/column/key, etc. I'm just wondering if I may have a dead short somewhere? Will not having the mass-air plugged in keep it from running? I'm just trying to get it "mostly together" so I can paint it and then finish assembly.

Not having the MAF should put the car in limp mode, but it should still start. I would check injectors, coils, crank and cam angle sensors.

Thanks, I'm beginning to suspect the crank sensor, cuz I've checked almost everything else...

It will still start with a bad crank sensor, but the ECU will use the cam angle signal to determine firing/injections. I believe at that point it switches to batch injection and injects twice per cylinder. Lets the car run, but not very well....
