Proximity sensor too problematic?
I went to a Car electronics expert installation shop to get some quotes on alarm systems and I was surprised when the tech expert told me that proximity sensors for the exterior of the car were a thing of the past because they were too problematic. The sensors would alter in adverse weather and people kept coming back to get them reset, is what he said. They didnt sell any and will not install any what so ever. One of the main things i fear is keying and figured a proximity alarm would be a wise choice. Also with a proximity alarm I wouldnt have to wory about a tilt sensor or a window shatter sensor. What do you guys think?
I don't like them for the reasons your shop listed. The impact sensor is almost as annoying ... just a bit less. If they're set wrong the bass from passing EPD's can set them off as will rain drops. Back the first level off another 1/4 of a screw turn and they'll still detect the impact of a car door ding. Glass break and microwave detectors are also options.
PS: if you park outdoors you'll be surprised at the number of cats in your neighborhood.

I dont know how much you would be paying for the proximity sensors but i could get you the same thing i have ( FM 2-way lcd pager alarm and remote start) for $200.00 its alot cheaper then a Viper system and has better range. I had mine installed the other day.

I have mine on the highest sensistivity though so i got paged twice this morning because of my neighbors who have subs lol im not sure if the remote start will work with a manual but i just figured id tell you because i wanted to share my deal with the Z community my roomate and I sell them so i can get pretty good prices.
