remote wiring for Carputer
I bought a carputer from a board member and I have the power and ground hooked up, but I ran into a problem. My power and ground are wired to the distributor for my stereo system, however, I tried to tap into my stereo remote wire and it seems to be too much load for the stereo to turn on my JL amp and the carputer. The puter is in the passenger glove compartment. Where is the next best available wire that I can tap into?

i know it wasnt the best, but when i had it, i used power, switched power, and ground straight off the stereo. I didnt use the remote wire, but there are 2 power wires. One is constant power, and one is a switched power to turn it on, and one for so it remembers radio stations and stuff. If you look at a wiring diagram for your radio, you should be able to figure it out from there.

That's how I wired it, but for some reason it trips the radio wire and the amp and PC turns off. I wired it to the 12V and it powered up just fine and everything looks great, but obviously I can't leave it plugged in like that. I might just put it on a switch throught the 12V line.

Here is how I hooked mine up.
I have a 10 gauge fused wire coming from the battery, it goes to the constant on the radio and computer. It also goes to the switch and relay pictured.
The On-Off-On toggle switch has ACC on one ON and Constant on the other ON. Power coming out of the switch is used to energize the relay.
The relay has the switch power connected to post 85, ground is on 86, constant is on post 30 and output to the radio, CarPC and screen come out of 87.
What this does is this:
Normal mode. In the first ON position, the radio, screen and CarPC come on with the ACC on the ignition switch.
Show mode. In the second ON position, the radio, screen and CarPC come on and stay on regardless of key position. You can demonstrate the system without a key, leave the doors open without the buzzer.
OFF. Then there is OFF, this is what I would use if I was taking the car in for service and did not want any of it on.
