Default Valentine 1 Stealth Install ...

I read all the reviews, and looked at the Escort 8500 and the Valentine 1. Thanks to all the info, and several other posts in these forums, I decided on the Valentine 1 Radar Detector/Locator with the Concealed display option. Here are some pics of my install. I tapped into a power lead behind the drivers side kick panel, and mounted all wiring there. The main detector is mounted to the right of the rearview mirror making sure that the rearview detector window is visible. The wiring is completely concealed, and runs through the rearview mirror coverplate, then through the roof liner and down to the fuse panel. The concealed display wiring runs under the dash, and up through trough the opening to the side of the steering column. No wires are visible, and for the most part the detector istslef is hidden from the driver's side view. The concealed display is perfectly visible to the driver. I like these mounting localtions personally, but you can let me know what you think...

Here is the view inside:

I love my V1, it has saved me more than 10x now...my only ticket so far has been on a sunny afternoon, and the stereo blaring, and me all alone (no one in front for probably 1 mile or so) and a cop with Instan-On radar...I crested a hill and there he was and he got me...86 in a 65... OUCH! A cool cop nonetheless, and he let me go for a 5 mile over infraction, and $104 fine with zero points. I got lucky this time. I probably got a blip or 2 but never paid much attention as I was in my own little world speeding down the highway all alone--me and my Z, then the rude awakening! Anyways, most PA cops don't use the instant on, and no laser here, so my V1 detects all of them about 1+ miles ahead of where they are camped out. I try to watch myself a little more now, and at least stay within 1/2 mile of traffic ahead so that if instant-on is being used, that I will at least get a blip or 2...I also try to watch the volume on the radio, since the V1 can only be turned up so loud...with the stereo on and windows open, it would be hard to hear a quick detect.

Nevertheless, my ticket does not change how I feel about this detector...I still thinks its the best thing out there !

Thanks for the compliments too...this thread is pretty old, but its nice to see that people are using the search and bringing up topics posted from 6+ months ago...the Search function is awesome !
