How does one create a fiberglass box?
I dont know what your wanting to fiber glass, but Ill use the spair tire well for example. Use wide masking tape, and completely cover were your fibergassing. Then get some spray glue and cover your tape. Then take aluminium foil and stick it to the tape. Make sure you tape were two pieces of aluminium foil come together, or it will oose around them. Then build a frame out of wood the height you want the box minus the thickness of you top piece were the subs will be mounted. Set your frame were you want it on top of the aluminium foil. Then take your fibergass mat, and cut it in 3in strips. Then take those strips and tear them about every 4in. tearing it instead of cutting it makes a better bond in between pieces. Then mix your resign as directed on container. Take your resign, and paint your aluminium foil up to the frame you built out of wood with a paint brush (get cheap paint brushes) Then stick your mat down piece by piece. Dab each piece with your paint brush giving them a good helping of resign. Make sure you have no bubbles or pieces sticking up, because that will make weak spots. Do one layer at a time. Mix your resign to run out on each layer, so you can get each layer to dry before starting the next. After about 2 layers you can remove your fiberglass enclosure, and frame out of the stw. Then take all the aluminium foil off the back side. Peal the tape off your car. Id do about 6 layers of fiberglass, and then screw on your top, and wala. You just built your own fiberglass box. There is many ways to do this. This is just one example. Hope this helps.
Here is a thread that gives you picture by picture instructions on building one in the "side" of the hatch: My New Sub Enclosure (by Onecoolee). This is the follow up thread: Upgraded Sub...(by Onecoolee)
