Default Have anyone used Vibramat Tile for damping?

I was wondering have anyone ever used this product on your doors for damping? If so how did it work out for you? and how many "bricks" did you put on your door?

Thanks

I've never used it, but would be willing to try it if I can find it for sale somewhere and it's not too expensive. I usually use FatMat, but would be willing to try this stuff out.

Here is some interesting info, with a comparison to Dynamat Extreme.......

Yep, that's where I was reading the same info about the comparison with Dynamat. I wasn't sure what size is the best to use on our doors, medium, large?? If you look for the chart on the effects the number of "brick" placed on doors will have on noise you will basically see that more is better, kinda like everything else for damping.

Exactly. Depending on cost, I would probably try to fit 6 medium bricks in each door, and get a bulk sheet for the plastic door panel, dash, behind seats, etc.

I will look, but if you can find an online distributor, let me know, I'd be interested in knowing cost of this product.

If not, I will go with the FatMat that I have used in all of my installs for the past 5 years. Great product, cheap price.

I didn't use Vibramat tile, but I used planety of Vibramat. It is basically an open/closed cell 1/2" thick foam that cuts down the mid to high fequency road and engine noise. I have my hood, parts of the floor, cubby, trunk, and lower door panels lines with the stuff. I like it better than jute pad, and it has a great peel and stick surface that will not come off easily once applied. It worked very well over Extreme Dynamat matting.

Regarding their "Tile" product. I was never convinced about its effectiveness. Sure it adds weight and thus reduces vibrations..but just seems lacking compared to a complete coverage from something like Edead or Dynamat matting.

I purchased the Vibramat on Ebay, but I believe exciters sells it.

danni,

When you put vibramat on the floors was it hard to put the factory carpet back on without it bulging? because 1/2 seems kinda thick.
I just ordered both the tile and vibramat, guess I'm gonna have to try it out and see if it's really what their website says about the decibel reduction However, I do not have a RTA to measure it.......hmm....should I just call them back and cancle the order and just get fatmat? hmm....

street,

The mat is $45+shipping per sheet and so as the medium tile, large tiles are $55 per/12 and that's what I ordered, plus a sheet of 3'x4' mat. You can order them directly from exciter.
