Default Need some Info

I did a search first

I just finished wiring up my kenwood 6019 dd and used the metra kit to make it all pretty and used the OEM mounting brackets as per metra instructions
I went to put center back in the Z and did not go back in (the OEM brackets are getting hung up) so do I have to cut the brackets ( it will work for sure)or am I missing something. I did not take my OEM radio out so I do not know how it sat in the dash. Any Info would be great.

you do not use the oem brackets with the metra kit. Your new HU will have to mount directly to the metra kit. When I 1st installed my HU I thought to myself, "how can this be secure? Fastening a HU to a piece of plastic. What if someone wants to steal my radio? It shouldn't be too hard to pry it free from a piece of plastic." I soon found out that that's the way it was. Either like it or not. Have fun.

I see what you mean about mounting it to the metra kit, thats how I had my single din but my new HU is a double din the kit instruction's shows in detail
to use the OEM mounting brackets, the long part at the bottom is not allowing me to set the HU in. If I cut those long parts of the bracket's off it will work fine.

I see....I've never installed a DD kit. You might have to get creative on this one.

Hello Nizzmo:

I installed the Double Din Alpine IVA-W200, with the Metra dashkit/harness. You use the OEM mounting brackets...I removed the factory headunit,,,,mounted the OEM metal brackets to each side of W-200,,,When putting the dash back together its a PITA...You will have RCA,s wire harness, ect. ect. all bulging at the bottom. I had to play with it to get the headunit and dash to slide back,,,,,if you are talking about the kinda long parts of the lower OEM metal brackets you attached,,,the bottom tabs fit between the white temp box and the car factory mounting bracket...Its a pain,,you have to just move it around gently to get each lower bracket tab, between the white box and factory mount....I know this sounds kinds vague,,,,if you have more question, feel free to PM me. I will send you my cell number,,you can call and I can try to walk you through it while you are sitting in your car.....I hope this helps, of if I can be of help, please feel free to ask..

Pat

Well it must just be the kenwood HU, it was either cut the center plastic cross bar in the dash or cut the brackets I cut the brackets and it fit in
very well .
